Command 16 : Do Not Cast Pearls | Day 111

Raise Up Holy Generations!

The stillness of the morning was broken by the ringing of the telephone. The father answered it and heard his daughter's voice: "Dad, there is a boy I want you to meet. Could we stop by later today?" The father sensed trouble, but agreed to the meeting.

When the daughter and her friend arrived, the mother and father were shocked. They never would have imagined that their beautiful, Godly daughter would have ever chosen to associate with such a boy, much less want to introduce him to her family. The situation grew even worse as the parents learned that their daughter had attended drinking parties at college and was pregnant with this boy's child. The parents were crushed, stunned, heartbroken, and dismayed!

God's purpose throughout history is to raise up a Godly seed that will proclaim His truth to the nations.

The grief of these parents could best be described by Ezra when he learned that the spiritual leaders of the people had "not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations ... . For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands ... . And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonished. ...

“I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, and said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. ... O Lord God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped ... behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this" (Ezra 9:1-6, 15).

The glory of children is their father, who is entrusted by God with the responsibility to protect and train them. (See Proverbs 17:6 and Ephesians 6:4.)

This was Ezra's instruction to the fathers of his day: “Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth forever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children forever” (Ezra 9:12).

If you were warned that someone was planning to sneak into your home and steal a very large sum of money that you were storing in a dresser drawer, wouldn't you take special precautions to protect it? Your children are far more valuable than any amount of money you may have!

God has created men to be courageous, mighty protectors. Let's do whatever is necessary to protect sons and daughters from those who would seek to devour them, and let's teach them to fear the Lord so they will be equipped to raise up Godly generations.

“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine ...” (Matthew 7:6).
