Command 36 : Ask in Faith | Day 251

Conquer by the "Word of Faith"!

A certain woman realized that something was wrong in her body. It was actually a disorder affecting her blood. She hoped that it could be cleared up by a visit to her doctor. However, the remedies that the doctor prescribed did not work.

So, she went to another physician and received another set of remedies. This was repeated over and over again for twelve long years. After suffering many things at the hands of many doctors and spending all her money, she was no better but rather had grown steadily worse.

When she heard that Jesus was coming through her town, she said to herself, “If I can just touch his clothing, I will be healed,” and when she did so, her health was restored! Her statement was based on the truth that Jesus is the Great Physician and had the power to heal her. The woman's words also qualified as a word of faith, based on Mark 11:22–23: “Have faith in God. . . . Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

A "word of faith" is a truth based on Scripture that we are to confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts.

Jesus emphasized the power of confessing truth with our mouths and believing it in our hearts when He said, “Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever ... shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:22-23).

Paul spoke of this "word of faith" in salvation when He declared, “... The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:8-9).

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Life comes by speaking the truth of God's Word with our mouths and in our hearts.

The faith we have in God and in the promises of His Word will have an influence on the extent of the work He can do in and through our lives. This was revealed when it was said of Jesus, “He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief” (Matthew 13:58). On the other hand, Jesus promised that if we abide in Him and His words abide in us, we can make requests in faith based on His Word and they will be granted by our heavenly Father (see John 15:7).

When the Lord gives us a verse or passage of Scripture that addresses a specific problem or temptation we are facing, we can become conquerors by believing these truths in our hearts and confessing them with our mouths, expecting God to make them realities in our lives. The results will bring glory to God!

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24).
